Make a Lasting Impact

My name is Marcel Nkamwa, a twenty-eight year old Computer Engineer from Cameroon. I'm mostly known by the slogan #SeeYouAtTheTop and my friends and colleagues dubbed me "Uncle IT".

My journey with Mercy Ships began shortly after I received a prophetic word about my life purpose and destiny. Prior to me getting to know about Mercy Ships in April 2023, I began experiencing an emptiness and a void in me I knew only God could fill. This hunger kept growing more and more to the point where I wanted to reseign from my job in search for meaning.

And as a result of this burden that the Lord laid in my heart, I decided in September 2022 to register and attend the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry. Little did I know God was preparing me for service on a mobile hospital ship and a higher purpose. As time went on, the vision became more clear as HABAKKUK 2:3 says: "For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry."

My earnest desire has always been to bring hope, encourage and empower young people to live their full potential through the work I do and my service to humanity around the world. I knew this was so because even as a student many years back, I always dream of living a lifestyle where Work, Travel and Faith were at it core.

Shortly after I recieved a word about me working with doctors and surgeons, I stumpled on a link shared by a professional network about a vacancy for Service Desk Administrator on the Global Mercy. I clicked on it and as you would expect, I went to their website to read about the organisation, their mission and what they do.

Behold, when I started reading, it felt like a "deja-vu" and the Holyspirit instantly brought to my rememberance the word I previously recieved and convicted me on the spot that this was it. That was how I applied to volunteer and got accepted to join Mercy Ships to support their vision in bringing hope and healing.

I'll be serving on the Africa Mercy as Endpoint Analyst. One thing about serving others I strongly believe is better articulated by this quote which goes something like this: “Man is here for the sake of other men - above all for those upon whose smiles and well-being our own happiness depends.” ― Albert Einstein.
